New Delhi: World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is an annual celebration of the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. World Red Cross Red Crescent Day is celebrated on 8 May each year. This date is the anniversary of the birth of Henry Dunant, who was born on 8 May 1828. He was the founder of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the recipient of the first Nobel Peace Prize.
“Programs conducted by the Red Cross Society can be broadly categorized into four parts including the promotion of humanitarian principles and values; disaster response; disaster preparedness; and health and care,” informed Dr. Sandeep Marwah while talking to the students on line as no event could be planned because of Covid 19.
“The Red Cross Society is based on 7 principles namely, humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary, unity and universality. They are also common with our aims and objectives of Scouts & Guides Organization as well as World Peace Development And Research Foundation,” added Dr. Marwah who is also representing as Chief Scout for India and President WPDRF.
Dr. Sandeep Marwah has been associated with Red Cross Society since 2012 and has been organizing blood camps since then. His film production company also produced few films for The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) few years back.
“Time has come when we have to give a smart & new look to many new films which can serve the purpose of powerful communication for Red Cross Society expressed Dr. Sandeep.
